ways to take advantage of the internet and all the benefits that it brings us.
Sometimes, however, we need special tools to take full advantage. These tools
come in the form of software, apps, and programs.

But again, we have
to worry about paying for those apps. After all, the developers had to spend a
good deal of time and effort in building them. Not to mention the skills that
they must have invested in to even know how to build up such solutions.

Fortunately, not
all developers take this approach. Most of the apps you have across your
devices right now are probably free.

That makes things
interesting for us all. Being able to get things done without having to go the
premium way every time.

There is one
saying that keeps with us many times, though. “If you cannot see the product,
you are probably it.”

<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">The Hidden Dangers of Free Apps<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">

Free apps, for all
the good they bring to the table, are not without their flaws
either.

As mentioned
above, the developers will also want to make back their money – for the time
and effort spent building the apps. Thus, it is not uncommon to see
monetization techniques like data scraping and selling.

In less fancy
terms, the developer collects data about you – the user – and sells them to the
highest bidder. This could be an ad agency, marketer, or some other sinister
individual/ body.

Otherwise, they
could choose to go the way of ads. If you have ever used an app with ads popping
up at the least provocation, you will understand how poor that can make the
entire user experience for you. You just would not be getting as much utility
out of the app as you wanted.

That, and we have
not mentioned the fact that threat actors themselves could offer apps for free.

This happens in
two ways: either they build the malicious app from scratch, or they leverage an
existing app to fleece unsuspecting users. The latter is common with
normally-paid apps which are then offered for free in cracked/ modded versions.

To do so means
modifying the codes of such apps, which also means the hackers could have
inserted their codes. Anyone downloading such apps is in danger of being
exposed to malware.

<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Protecting Your Data and Privacy<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">

For one, stay away
from downloading free apps with a premium version if you can find a free
alternative. These tend to have less intrusive ads that negatively impact user
experience. If you must download and use free apps too, especially those that
connect to the internet, buying a VPN
is a no-brainer. Otherwise, your data – everything you do on the app and the
internet – can be collected, recorded, and sent back to the developer to do as
they please.

Finally, only
download apps from trusted sources. Stay away from so-called hacked apps,
cracks, or modified app versions.

Hackers have been running haywire
for a while now, and it seems OEMs have started getting tired of them. For a
group of people who
collectively stole an amazing $19.4 billion from US consumers in 2017 alone,
they do deserve any and all poor stares that they get from manufacturers.

Besides poor stares, these
manufacturers have also come up with their own ways of helping the average
consumer stay safe against cyber-attacks. Below are some of the ones we love
the most

1 Antivirus Software

Hackers have almost perfected the
art of installing malware on target devices to do their bidding. Depending on
the kind of malware in question, the hacker could achieve a series of things.
Some of such are:

Destroying all/ some
of the files on a user’s computer (virus)

Silently recording all
keystrokes a user makes, sending this data back to a remote server. Analysis of
the data can be used to determine account password and login info (keylogger)

Holding the user’s
files to ransom, only releasing/ promising to release these files after payment
is made (ransomware), and much more.

Almost all computer manufacturers
now equip their units with a third-party antivirus to help them combat these
issues. Microsoft is even known for its Windows
Defender program which comes with the Windows 8 software and later.

2 Webcam Protection

If you have ever heard that webcams
– or just about any other cameras on any internet-enabled device for that
matter – can be hacked to spy on you, you should believe it.

Internet users have reported
finding their images on the web even though they didn’t take such intimate
photos. Videos have surfaced too, and that can be disturbing. All these cannot
be boiled down to conspiracy theories either – seeing as Edward Snowden himself confirmed that these
cameras can be hacked by even the government.

The truth is that switching off the
webcam app does not put you out of harm’s way. Thus, OEMs came up with the
novel idea of a webcam kill switch.

Popular on HP’s laptops currently,
these kill switches electrically disconnect the webcam from the motherboard. By
so doing, they become impossible to access on-site or remotely. That
effectively nips the voyeur issue in the bud.

3 Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

The turn of this decade has exposed
many to the benefits of VPNs. They used to be seen as just pieces of software
that allowed users to change their locations to anyone so desired, but they
have now been recognized for more than that.

So
much is this recognition that leading brands like HP have brought ExpressVPN’s Windows app onto some of its units. That said,
what makes them so important?

The first point of call is in how
VPNs helps protect users from the dangers of unencrypted networks – as is
mostly the case with public/free Wi-Fi networks. At the same time, their level
of encryption (an FBI-grade, 256-bit protocol for the top VPN companies) makes
it impossible for users to fall victim to internet traffic sniffing, data
snooping and such related attacks.

4 Password Management

Perhaps the leading cause of data
breaches is the kind of poor password habits users have these days.

From using the same password for
multiple accounts to not even caring to set strong passwords to start with, the
list is uninspiring enough. Left alone, it does not seem like users will get
out of this habit on their own, so their OEMs are stepping in to help.

Integrating password management
software like LastPass means users can now use multiple passwords for different
accounts without having to worry about forgetting any. Likewise, these password
management programs come with password generating features, allowing users to
create highly secure and extremely complex passwords at a click.

And oh, they don’t even have to
remember it since they have the same app to do so for them.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman", "serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Final Words

As OEMs are doing their part, the
user is also a major stakeholder in the race towards data privacy and security.
Thus, the consumers should be prepared to embrace and appreciate these
additions too.

That way, the excesses of hackers
can be curbed.
Ever wanted a robot butler to run your house? Alexa is about as close as you can get, and she keeps gaining more and more skills and features. From light switches to power outlets to thermostats, the number of Alexa-enabled devices has been steadily growing since Amazon’s public release of the Echo in mid-2015. Amazon expanded the family more Echo devices like the Echo Dot, Echo Show and Echo Spot, and Echo Plus. In addition, Amazon has connected Alexa with a number of web services in order to create a more holistic experience.

On its own, Alexa devices are simply wireless speakers or smart displays that can answer queries like Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant. When paired with smart home devices, however, Alexa becomes quite powerful. Joining with brands like WeMo, Philips, Caseta, and Lifx, Amazon created a system that lets you control many aspects of your home just by talking to it. To help get you and Alexa off on the right foot, we’ve compiled a list of the best smart-home devices she can control.

Please note: Google has canceled compatibility with Alexa for its smart devices, including all Nest products, which is why you won’t find any of those in this article. If Google and Amazon reach another compatibility partnership in the future, we’ll let you know–but this does not seem likely at the moment.

The best Alexa-compatible smart home hubs

If you’re going all-in on the smart home, you’ll definitely want a hub. These plastic boxes work with devices from lots of different manufacturers that operate using different protocols, like ZigBee or Z-Wave. Yes, Alexa itself is a bit hub-like, but there are some things she can’t do. Pairing the smart speaker with Samsung SmartThings hub — one of our favorite smart home hubs — can help bolster Alexa’s capabilities. You can also opt for an Echo Plus 2, which is an Alexa device with a built-in Zigabee hub.
There are some devices, like some smart locks and lights, that require a hub to even work with Alexa. In some cases, a hub like Wink or SmartThings can act as a substitute bridge, while also letting them interact with other devices in new ways. More and more manufacturers are making gadgets that don’t require a hub. Having a hub will elevate your smart home experience though.
The personal assistant is just a little more than four years old and has come a long way from its humble beginnings with the original Amazon Echo smart speaker.
Alexa now powers a whole host of devices and a simple voice command can accomplish some pretty surprising tasks with the right hardware. In this article, we’re highlighting the best Alexa-compatible gadgets that you should take a look at in 2019, including an Alexa-enabled coffee maker.

When YouTube is blocked in your
office, home, school, country or anywhere else, you might feel completely
disconnected from the world. It’s especially annoying if you rely on quality
video content exclusively hosted on the platform to learn or work. Fortunately,
that does not have to be the end of it all.

It’s 2019. No one can take away your
personal Spanish tutor, favorite music videos, or other entertainment on
YouTube unless they unplug you from the internet completely. So, how can you
get around a Youtube block? Read on to find out.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Understanding how YouTube can be
blocked

You might try to access YouTube only
to get an error message informing you that the website is unavailable to you.
At other times, you could have access to YouTube itself but have issues viewing
certain content on the platform.

No matter which one of these happens,
the problem is the same: server-side blocking.

A higher authority (which could be
your home, office or school network admin; an organization or country) has
blocked access to the YouTube servers from their internal servers. In the
latter case, the content uploader has specified that the video not be made
available for our region – and your region is determined by the server from
which you are accessing the YouTube servers.

Thus, to get out of this bind, you
need to access the website from servers other than the blocked ones.

Let’s go see how that can be done.

1
Try Google Translate

One relatively unknown method of
unblocking YouTube is by using Google Translate, which is yet another service
from Google.

Head over to the official Google Translate website and
enter the YouTube address in the search bar. Choose two different languages
(source and target language), making sure at least one of these is English. Hit on the Translate button and you should see YouTube appear in the space
below.

You can browse the video platform from
within the Google Translate service until you are satisfied.

2
Try Some Browser Plugins

This will only work if you are allowed
to install plugins on the computer’s browser – especially for people looking to
unblock YouTube at home/ in school.

These browser plugins will allow you
to browse the internet from other server locations than yours (which is the
blocked server). Some of the browser extensions we recommend are:

Note: Browser extensions might help
you access YouTube, but it doesn’t hide your internet activity from your home,
office or school admin, the government or your ISP. In short, they can still
see all you are doing on the network.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">3 Get a VPN

A VPN is a piece of software designed
with multiple servers placed in different countries and locations all around
the world. When you connect to any location, you get to browse the internet
like you are physically there.

You can, thus, be in the US while
browsing the web like you were in Australia, and the websites you are
contacting would know no better.

An obvious
advantage of using a VPN to
unblock YouTube is that your internet activity stays hidden from
your ISP, your employer, and network admins. That way, you can consume as many
videos you want without fear of being caught on the backend of that network.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">4 Consider Using Mobile Hotspot

Sometimes, YouTube has been blocked on
the specific network you are browsing the web with. If you have an alternative
carrier plan associated with your phone, using a hotspot connection could solve
the issue for you.

This gets better.

Since you are the one sharing that
connection, as a node, you act kind of like the Internet Service Provider
(ISP). In other words, you don’t have to fear someone looking in on your
internet activity since you control the internet supply for streaming YouTube.

The downside to this plan is that you
would incur additional data costs than if you had gone for any of the tips
above.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">5 Download the Videos

The beauty of YouTube is in being able
to stream the videos without having to save them on your unit. If you really
want to watch those videos, though, you might want to consider downloading
videos off of YouTube instead.

But you can’t even access the website.
How do you download from there?

Services like SaveFrom

On Windows 7 and later, Task Manager will educate the client that ending the procedure will bring about framework disappointment, and incite on the off chance that they need to proceed.

CSRSS keeps running as a client mode framework benefit. At the point when a client mode process calls a capacity including console windows, process/string creation, or next to each other help, rather than issuing a framework call, the Win32 libraries (kernel32.dll, user32.dll, gdi32.dll) send a between procedure call to the CSRSS procedure which does the vast majority of the real work without trading off the kernel.[3] Window director and GDI administrations are taken care of by a part mode driver (win32k.sys) instead.[4]

CSRSS is called alongside winlogon.exe at Windows start-up. In the event that both of the documents is ruined or generally difficult to reach, the NT part will quiets down the begin down process with a Blue Screen of Death. This is caused by an inability to move out of portion mode and into client mode, the "typical" task of Windows. The mistake code for this blame is 0xc000021a.

In Windows 7 and later, rather than drawing console windows itself, CSRSS produces conhost.exe subprocesses to draw support windows for order line programs with the authorizations of that client.Technology Marketinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16656888473430766080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6605948643223928495.post-76912347953992916352018-05-25T07:02:00.000-07:002018-05-25T07:02:54.681-07:00winlogon.exe Windows Logon Application(winlogon.exe) What is it?
I simply found in the Task Manager Processes a picture name "winlogon.exe" After looking through a few people say "Windows document, don't erase, framework will hang" however others say "it is a troyan that takes passwords and record information, and can be erased with no issue"

I found a couple of bizarre things on this document situated in the Windows/system32:

- I never observed this procedure in the Task Manager before today.

- The symbol is a round window with a moon and stars

- The Task Manager demonstrates NO information with the exception of the name and the memory utilized 2,316K

- I limb the Laptop with Windows 7/64 on Jan 3/10 yet the propeties demonstrates Created and got to Jan 26/2010 - Why 23 days after intalled everything and never (obviously ) got to there after?

What shoul I do?

Something simply happened to my PC (Win 7 64) that used to happen to my old one, and I figure it must be a malware. What happens is that is simply solidifies, you can switch windows, limit, expand... be that as it may, nothing reacts, no new procedure can be propelled.

So I opened the undertaking administrator to check what process was running and saw three of them I couldn't tell what they are: csrss.exe, nvxdsync.exe and winlogon.exe

csrss.exe is an authentic record however as you have found the area might be an indication of something wrong. Vital document, and to be brief here, Just google the name for more data. Try not to give any locales "a chance to settle" a csrss.exe issue for you.

nvxdsync.exe is the NVIDIA User Experience driver - you would/could have that in the event that you have NVIDIA illustrations cards.

winlogon.exe.: same as csrss.exe. Typically a legitmate document however can be mis-utilized.

Is fascinating that the solidifying has occured on two PCs. Good possibility that some setup or application (reinforcement programming for instance) could be copying the records.

Or then again it could be malware - in any case, I would have some trust in Avast and Malwarebytes to get that.

Post the full record areas and check whether some reinforcement or other document duplication process is occurring. Attempt to limit the subtle elements to some degree.

That will enable make sense of to if and what issue is occuring.

What's more, utilize Event Viewer to perceive what happens just previously or at the season of the PC solidifying. May be something totally extraordinary going on...Technology Marketinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16656888473430766080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6605948643223928495.post-66031295236795420732018-05-19T01:49:00.002-07:002018-05-19T01:49:48.568-07:00Windows 10 Start Button and Taskbar not working - Problems with Windows 10 taskbar

Reinstall all Windows applications

Downloading and reinstalling all Windows 10 applications supposedly settles a stuck Start menu. This isn't as extraordinary as it sounds — 'Windows applications' are the ones incorporated with Windows 10 and accessible from the Windows Store. They used to be called 'Present day' applications and, before that, 'Metro' — Microsoft simply changed the name with Windows 10.

Even better, the reinstallation is programmed and should just take a couple of minutes. The procedure may erase any information you have spared in these Windows applications, however, so reinforcement anything critical before you start.

Applications that store information on the web, in Microsoft OneDrive or as documents in a different organizer, (for example, the Photos application) ought to be unaffected.

Cautioning: Recent reports show that this procedure may cause a few Windows Store applications to quit working, so be aware of this before proceeding.

1. Windows 10 Taskbar Not Working 2018 - Windows 10 Taskbar Not Working After Update

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: #432d2d; font-family: "Libre Franklin"; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.7; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
This is relatively broad advice that’s applicable to many PC problems, but it’s been proven to solve Taskbar strife for some users. Outdated drivers can cause all manner of issues, so updating standard drivers, like the graphics and audio drivers, is a good place to start if you’re at a loss as to what’s affecting your system.

<div class="linked-out" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; color: #432d2d; font-family: "Libre Franklin"; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.7; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
First things first; there’s a chance that Windows 10 might be the cause of your driver dispute. Its rollout of automatic updates carries over to drivers, but the implementation of this feature isn’t quite perfect. It might be worth disabling the functionality altogether.
